《新英语教程》（修订版）（第1册）共10个单元，每单元均由主课文（Text A ，Words and Expressions、注释、语法学习要点、四项主课文练习），辅助课文（Text B and Text C及练习），写作专项练习及谚语构成。教程从学生的学习基础出发，注重学生基本语言应用能力的培养和训练，选取学生感兴趣的话题（如问候语、礼节、抱负、大学生活、金钱观、旅行、购物、食品与饮料、传统和习俗、友谊），短文编写采用浅显易懂的英语，融入英语语言知识，让学生在学习的过程中增强语言应用能力。

主编蔡昌卓，博士、教授、硕士生导师、广西师范大学副校长，主持5项国家级和6项省级研究课题，发表论文30余篇，出版各类著作39部。
